High School Football Brain Injury

Jacob was a 16 year-old boy who 5 months ago had collided with another football player at a practice scrimmage. They both dove for the ball at the same time, both missing the ball then cracking their heads together. Fortunately they were wearing helmets.. Unfortunately they were both out for the season with headaches and other symptoms. The other young man recovered sooner than Jacob. In fact Jacob was still on medication but continuing to have headaches, sleep problems, and irritability. Nothing seemed to be helping. Jacob felt angry at himself for ruining his life with a "stupid game." He had also given up all contact sports and figured he would never be able to easily read and learn again.

Treatment

In the first session I facilitated two Awakening the Sleeping Brain sessions processes; one on the right temporal side and the other in the brain stem (lower back of head) He reported an immediate relief from the headaches while his pale complexion became rosier.

At the beginning of the second session the family reported that he seemed happier, not as irritable, had no headaches and, with his doctor's agreement, was no longer taking pharmaceutical medication.

However, reading still tired him and there was constant tension in his neck and eyes. Brain Gym muscle re-education took care of that and his countenance brightened. I cancelled out group I toxins with the Wavemaker and facilitated Dennison Laterality Repatterning for better left and right hemisphere communication.

Jacob, his father and I engaged in a powerful conversation about forgiveness and self-responsibility and training ourselves not to react with anger when things don't go our way. Jacob harvested insight and created a new way for himself to interact with others.

Cognitive post-test showed a 93% focusing ability, an increase of 20%, and 17% increase in brain processing speed.

Discussion

Jacob was really stuck with his headaches and low functioning brain. Other than medication he had no real recovery plan or positive prognosis from his doctor. With just a few hours of work his positive future hopes for college and career success are restored. He is completely symptom free, able to perform as he did before this accident. This is a wonderfully clear case example of the Accelerated Trauma Release process because Jacob appeared to have no prior traumas or learning difficulties.
